Welcome to Your Journey Through Tarot
Tarot scares many people because they are afraid of the fortunes or misfortunes that tarot might enlighten them to, but this could not be further from what tarot actually is. Imagine the world’s symbolism – everything from images, words and colours to numbers, titles, and states of being – condescended into card form. Tarot is a wonderful tool for self-reflection and guidance, offering new depths to explore and understand from the bigger picture of life and all it entails, down to the small details that we often miss. Through this symbolism, we are able to trust that the answers will be shown to us via the cards; for what we are looking for to be right in front of us.
I’m Ruth Karan, a writer, independent historian, and tarot reader amongst other things. I am also certified as a Reiki Master thanks to the unique Reiki training offered by Yvette Karan here at YLK Mentors. Tarot, as you may know, embodies the cycles of change and transformation that naturally happen through our lives, flowing from past to present, present to future. The past can show us many things that we are not always able to see, and revealing those hidden parts of our history, tied to us now in the present, we can start to pull apart the weave we have created in the fabric of our lives.
My historical research runs much in the same way, as it focuses on the folkloric, ritual, and emotional practice of concealing items of dress in historical homes; a silent practice that is only revealed in the deconstruction of these hidden spaces. The landscapes, stories, and material remains of the past still affect us now, their energy always changing and bringing to the light what we have neglected to see before. What keeps us tethered through these cycles of change is our emotional contribution to the lived experiences in our everyday lives, something we can see reflected again from past to present, present to future.

Tarot is here to show you your path through life, or your many paths through life, as you walk forward on your journey. Your future lies murky ahead; your past more visible. The present is the glade that you stand in amongst the forest, the paths around you hidden from sight due to the trees and the fog. What we do with this and how we proceed is down to ourselves – sometimes yes, there may be external circumstances that take over our lives and whisk us along, but it is our actions that define our journey.

Written Tarot Readings
With your question to the cards, you will receive a written tarot reading in the form of a letter, something for you to keep, read, reflect on and cherish for years to come. The messages tarot can give us can all at once resonate with what is currently going on in our lives, but they can also transform and give new meaning over time, surprising us with their insight before we even knew they were relevant.
